"Мені здається, вибачаюсь за таку риторику, але Трампа трохи попустить з цією його проросійською риторикою після виборів. Тобто в той момент, коли йому не потрібно буде грати на публіку, шукати крайнього, коли він зможе більш-менш чітко працювати з цим питанням і коли вже буде зрозуміло, в якій ситуації проходитимуть наступні два роки його президентства, ми побачимо трохи більш прогнозованого Трампа", noted Краєв.

According to him, after the election, the American president will have to focus on achieving long-term results in international politics. And for this it will be important for him to demonstrate strength, and not to give way to Russia.

"Не тому, що він раптово полюбить Україну, не тому, що раптово зрозуміє, хто такий Путін. Просто в цей момент йому стане зрозуміло те, що, на диво, було зрозуміло Трампу в перший місяць його другого терміну: насправді він не може показати слабкість, не може поступитися росіянам. Йому треба підтримати Україну тому, що тоді він виглядатиме сильним. І тоді він дійсно матиме вигляд президента-дипломата, який може впливати на міжнародну політику. І тоді він не виглядатиме слабаком в очах Китаю", the expert explained.

Краєв believes that Trump’s current rhetoric is largely related to attempts to save the ratings of the Republican Party and his own political positions. After the election, there may be an opportunity to convince the American president to act more constructively on Ukraine.

At the same time, the expert warned that the risk of restoring the usual business relations between США and Russia will not disappear.

"Це питання доходів його сім'ї, це питання його власних доходів, це питання, в принципі, того напівлегального сірого бізнесу, яким трампівська сім'я славиться. А тому ризик того, що Трампу в якийсь момент спаде на думку знову почати business as usual з Росією, на жаль, залишається. І він буде постійним", said Краєв.
