Despite the harsh statements of President США Дональда Трампа, Ukraine should maintain diplomatic channels with Washington, because even after difficult periods, the parties can find constructive solutions. At the same time, European support for Ukraine has a strong foundation

This was stated in the "Український фокус. Ранок" project on Slawa.TV and "Еспресо" by the expert of the analytical center "Solid Info" Тарас Семенюк.

According to him, Дональд Трамп is resorting to verbal escalation, but his statements do not answer the main question - whether Ukraine will be safe and whether Europe will be protected. Despite this, it is not worth breaking the dialogue with President США.

"Це вже не перший раз, коли ми проходимо через непрості стосунки з американцями. Пригадаймо всім відомий лютневий екшен у Білому домі, де відбулася палка дискусія Зеленського, Трампа і Джеймі Венса. Це був лютий. Уже через місяць, навіть менше, 11 березня, відбулася зустріч у Джидді, яка демонструвала абсолютно інший характер відносин до України", noted Семенюк.

He stressed that if in February the relations were accompanied by emotions and heated discussions, then in March the Ukrainian and American delegations were able to move to constructive work and agree on clear parameters for cooperation and support.

According to the expert, such a change demonstrates the peculiarity of the political style of Trump, who seeks to constantly maintain attention through dramatic statements, emotional swings and loud events.

"Трамп хоче, щоб кожен день був як певний серіал, де є драма, де є щось позитивне, де знову плачемо, де знову радіємо. Це, знаєте, шоу-політика, менеджмент емоцій, іншими словами. А потім настає день, коли є реальна робота, коли американська і українська делегації знаходять вихід", explained Семенюк.

As an example of the fact that Сполученими Штатами can be negotiated even in difficult circumstances, the expert cited the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war in September 2022. According to him, then more than 250 Ukrainian prisoners were released, most of whom were Azov.

Семенюк also mentioned the agreement on minerals. Despite the fact that initially its conditions were absolutely unfavorable for Ukraine, the Ukrainian delegation eventually managed to reach more or less acceptable agreements.

"Тож я за те, що дипломатичні канали мають працювати попри таку історію з Дональдом Трампом", the expert said.

He also drew attention to the elections in США, which will be held 3 November. In his opinion, after them, the further political fate of the Republicans and Дональда Трампа itself will become clearer.

"Зараз він усе ставить на карту, бо розуміє й сам, що 3 листопада може значно змінити його позицію як президента. Тому канали з американцями підтримувати потрібно, звісно", said Семенюк.

At the same time, according to the expert, Ukraine has a solid foundation of relations with European partners. He noted that this is the distribution of responsibility for Ukraine sought in США, so that Europe would be more involved in its support.

Despite this, America remains part of transatlantic unity. Семенюк expressed the belief that the political situation in США may change, in particular because the Trump presidency will not last forever, but the support of Ukraine from partners will remain.

"Розуміємо, що підтримка України буде, вона не впадатиме і не зменшуватиметься", the expert concluded.
