This was reported by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

According to the minister, the capital's energy grid is subjected to Russian attacks every day. He instructed to accelerate the installation and connection of distributed generation units, which should help ensure electricity supply.

The minister noted that Russian troops are purposefully attacking energy equipment and high-voltage networks. Due to infrastructure damage, transmitting electricity between regions has become significantly more difficult.

“Electricity is available, but it is technically impossible to transmit it,” Shmyhal explained.

According to him, because of this, Ukrenergo is forced to apply outage schedules, and after new attacks, to introduce emergency consumption restrictions. Power engineers are continuing repair work, but their pace depends on the security situation.

One of the current priorities remains ensuring backup power for critical infrastructure facilities, in particular communication and water supply systems. Ukraine must also increase its own generating capacities.

Shmyhal instructed to check the reserves of backup equipment and determine additional needs of energy companies. According to him, since the beginning of the year, enterprises have already received more than a thousand tons of energy equipment from energy hubs.

In addition, equipment worth over 63 million euros has been purchased and delivered through the Energy Support Fund. Equipment worth over 17 million euros is still expected under previously concluded contracts.

Recall that unbreakable points are being deployed in the Obolon, Podil and Sviatoshyn districts of Kyiv due to the difficult energy supply situation.

Meanwhile, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that due to the intensification of Russian attacks, the capital is effectively moving "into survival mode" ahead of winter, and he advised residents of the capital who have such an opportunity to think about a temporary departure.
