Finland proposes to completely ban tourist visas for Russians at the level of ЄС
Finland is initiating a complete ban on issuing tourist visas to Russian citizens at the level of Європейського Союзу.

This writes Ukrinform with reference to the government of the country.
This call to the European Commission was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country
Valtonen said.
According to the head of МЗС, Finland banned the issuance of visas to Russians for unimportant trips at the government level back in 2022. In her opinion, the same restrictions should finally be introduced at the level of the entire European Union.
Valtonen invited other ЄС member countries to join the joint letter to the European Commission.
In addition to a complete ban on tourist visas, the initiative provides for the blocking of visas for the nearest environment of Володимира Путіна, visa restrictions for Russian athletes and the effective implementation of the entry ban for Russian military and former combatants, for which the country ЄС agreed in the summer.
- According to the official Helsinki, only during 2025 the Schengen countries issued the Russians almost 500 thousand tourist visas.
- Earlier it became known that the European Union is preparing to strengthen visa rules for Russian citizens who enter the countries of the bloc as tourists to strengthen the security of Europe amid the threat of sabotage and other hybrid attacks.
