Russian troops are installing optical navigation systems on strike drones that allow drones to navigate the terrain and reduce their dependence on satellite navigation.
This was reported by the adviser to the President on the development of technological areas of defense Сергій Бескрестнов, known by the call sign Флеш.
According to him, the principle of operation of such systems is that in the memory of the drone uploaded photos of the area, including satellite images or maps.
During the flight, the built-in camera takes the surface, and the system compares the resulting image with pre-loaded data and adjusts the route.
«Дрон, що летить за зображенням місцевості, не піддається впливу РЕБ», noted Бескрестнов.
According to him, similar systems are already used by Russians on «Молния», V2U and «Ланцет» drones.
Recently, the optical navigation system «Сусанин» was also detected on the shock drones «Герань-4» and «Герань-5». It compares images of the earth's surface with pre-loaded photos and helps UAVs determine their location.
Recall that in July Сергій Бескрестнов reported the beginning of testing new electronic warfare, which should strengthen the counteraction to Russian jet attack drones.
In July, Флеш also reported on the modernization of the Russian FPV-drone «Бумеранг». The drone received the function of targeting, rapid frequency change and other changes in the control system.
