For stealing state payments from the mother of the missing military man received 10 years in prison
Prosecutors have proved in court the guilt of 23-year-old man who took advantage of the trust of the mother of the missing soldier and stole almost 470 thousand hryvnias state payments. The court sentenced him 10 years in prison.
This was reported in the Office of the Prosecutor General.
In June last year, a woman asked her friend’s son to help her withdraw cash at an ATM. To do this, she provided him with the necessary personal data.
Using the information received, the man installed a banking application on his own phone and connected it to the victim’s account. Over the next five months, he transferred funds to other accounts without her knowledge and spent on his own needs.
The woman learned about the theft during the next purchase, and then turned to the bank.
In court, the accused fully admitted his guilt, and 6 October 2026 was convicted of large-scale theft and unauthorized interference in the work of information systems (part 4 article 185, part 5 article 361 КК Ukraine).
In addition to imprisonment, the man was banned for one year from holding positions or engaging in activities related to information systems and electronic communication networks.
Until the verdict is valid, the convicted person will be in custody.
