У Кенії підтвердили сім випадків зараження вірусом Ебола, зокрема серед трьох медичних працівників. Одна людина померла.

This was reported by Bloomberg with reference to the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).

As noted, the first case of Ebola in Kenya was found at the beginning of October. The infected man was infected with the Bundibuyo strain in Демократичній Республіці Конго. From there, he reached Kenya through Uganda, flying from Entebbe to Nairobi 3 October.

During the standard medical examination at the international airport named after Джомо Кеніати in Nairobi, no signs of the disease were found. Subsequently, the man was taken to a private hospital, where doctors recognized the symptoms, isolated the patient and informed the relevant authorities. Within a few days he died.

Among the four new infected are three medical workers and a family member of the first patient. All of them were quarantined, since they were previously identified as contact persons. Currently, patients receive supportive treatment in a specialized medical institution.

According to the Africa CDC, Kenyan authorities have installed and quarantined 128 from 130 people who have been in contact with the first patient. The search for two more people is ongoing. There is currently no evidence of the spread of the virus among the population outside the established contacts.

Наразі Africa CDC cooperates with the Kenyan authorities, helping to strengthen epidemiological surveillance, coordinate anti-epidemic measures and inform the population. The organization also stressed the importance of providing medical workers with means of individual protection, proper training and compliance with infectious control measures.

In May, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of Ebola in Демократичній Республіці Конго and Uganda an emergency in the field of health of international importance.

In turn, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recommended citizens to refrain from traveling to Демократичної Республіки Конго in connection with the outbreak of the Ebola virus.

As of August, Демократичній Республіці Конго had confirmed cases of Ebola reaching 4945, and the death toll had already risen to 2325. The outbreak had already exceeded the epidemic of 2018 to 2020 years.
