This was reported by BBC.

According to the police chief of the city of Бенд Майк Кранц, on Thursday afternoon, the suspect (his name is not yet disclosed) penetrated into the primary school “Сільвер-Рейл” (Silver Rail Elementary School), firing into the locked door.

According to Krantz, the teenager was shot by a local resident who “переслідував його до школи і вступив із ним у протистояння”.

The dead children were 5, 8 and 11. The seven-year-old child and the 54-year-old teacher were hospitalized in a critical condition. It is currently unknown if the attacker was somehow connected to this school.

According to police, the attacker was a 16-year-old local teenager, but no additional details about him or the victims, law enforcement did not report.

The police noted that they received a call from a person who reported: an unknown attacker shoots at her car with a long-barreled weapon. In published photos from the scene, a red pickup truck with bullet marks is visible.

Minutes before the rescue service (911) received reports that the attacker had entered the school building.

According to local ЗМІ reports, in 2022, the school has installed new doors in classrooms that can be locked by one switch movement.

According to police, one of the witnesses saw the beginning of the shooting, rushed after the attacker into the school building and shot him. Three minutes later, the first police arrived at the scene. They confirmed that the attacker was killed, and then examined the school premises.

According to the Schools Shooting Database (K-12 School Shooting Database), 235 shooting incidents occurred in U.S. schools last year, and since the beginning of this year, at least 140.
