Updated:
The International Atomic Energy Agency (МАГАТЕ) will send its missions to 19 electrical substations in Ukraine, which are key to the safe operation of nuclear power plants.
This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Андрій Сибіга following the talks in Warsaw.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the situation at and near the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, as well as the risks associated with Russian militarization and the need to ensure nuclear and physical nuclear safety.
Сибіга thanked the CEO of МАГАТЕ for the decision to send expert missions to 19 substations, on which the safe operation of Ukrainian АЕС depends.
"Вдячний генеральному директору за його рішення направити місії МАГАТЕ на 19 електричних підстанцій, критично важливих для безпечної експлуатації українських атомних електростанцій", the minister said.
According to the head of МЗС, this will be the largest deployment of such missions today. He also stressed the timeliness of this decision given the Russian strikes on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine.
Separately, during the negotiations, Сибіга expressed gratitude for the program for the recovery of children of Ukrainian nuclear workers. The parties agreed to continue implementing such humanitarian initiatives.
