The launch of a nationwide housing register for internally displaced persons is planned for 2027. The system will contain up-to-date data on the available housing stock and will be integrated with the IDP database.

This will help to better understand where housing is most needed by people, what kind of housing is available, and accordingly, help to more effectively provide housing for those who were forced to leave their homes. In general, the state and communities will receive a digital tool to work with housing resources and will be able to use them more efficiently for people's needs.

"The issue of housing for internally displaced people is directly connected to the issue of the register for inventorying housing funds for IDP needs. We want to complete this stage, because without relevant data we are scattering scarce resources. Therefore, in 2027 we plan to launch the housing register for IDPs, already filled with data and integrated with the IDP database," noted Vitaliy Bezgin, Minister for Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

The register will be a nationwide information and analytical system containing information on housing facilities and their use. At the same time, this does not mean the centralization of housing management: communities will continue to be responsible for managing the housing stock and will make decisions on providing housing.

The availability of verified data will make it possible to more accurately determine the need for social housing, assess the existing housing fund and plan its restoration, re-equipment or construction. This will also help communities and the state to conduct a substantive dialogue with international partners and attract funding for the implementation of housing projects.

More details about the creation of the social housing system and other priorities and key areas of work of the Ministry of Communities and Territories can be found in the interview with Vitaliy Bezgin at https://interfax.com.ua/news/interview/1212807.html.
