Permission to import diesel from Russia: senators США accused trump of breaking the law
Seven senators from the Republican and Democratic parties of США said that the decision of the President of Дональда Трампа on the permission to import diesel from the Russian Federation contradicts the American legislation that prohibits the import of Russian energy.

This is stated in a joint statement of senators published by 11 October on the website Комітету Сенату США on international relations.
The application was signed by Джин Шагін, Сьюзен Коллінз, Річард Блументаль, Ліза Мурковскі, Рон Вайден, Том Тілліс and Джон Кертіс. The text of the application states that the permission to import diesel from the Russian Federation violates the law.
Senators recalled that in 2022, Congress banned the import of Russian energy resources in order to prevent the financing of Russia’s war against Ukraine at American expense.
«Рішення президента Трампа дозволити імпорт російського дизельного пального до США прямо суперечить цьому закону. Адміністрація також не проконсультувалася з Конгресом і не надала жодних пояснень на обґрунтування свого рішення, як того вимагає законодавство», the authors of the statement said.
They also said that США should not provide Putin with financial support while Russia continues to kill Ukrainian civilians. Senators urged the Trump administration to immediately reconsider its decision.
Recall that Дональд Трамп announced an agreement with the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin regarding the supply of diesel from Russia. After that, the Ministry of Finance США temporarily suspended part of the sanctions, allowing the sale of Russian diesel fuel to 7 April 2027.
In Ukraine and Europe criticized this decision, in particular, in Germany said that they will not import Russian fuel, and in Poland questioned the ability of the Russian Federation to increase diesel exports.
Meanwhile, experts doubt that the agreement on fuel from the Russian Federation will reduce the price of diesel in США, as the Trump administration seeks.
