Putin continues the war, because he believes that its termination will make him responsible for what he did. At the same time, he expects that there will be circumstances under which he can end the war without losing his life and power. To bring this moment closer, it is necessary to create a negative dynamics for Russia at the front, in the zone and in the air

This was stated in the project "Український фокус. Ранок" on Slawa.TV and "Еспресо" by an expert of the National Institute for Strategic Studies Олексій Їжак.

According to him, Putin will go to negotiations when he understands that his personal survival depends on it. Currently, the Russian dictator is in a situation where, in his opinion, the continuation of the war is necessary to preserve his own life and power, because its termination can mean responsibility for what has been done.

At the same time, the expert suggested that the end of the war may become possible under another scenario. In Russia, there may be people who are ready to ensure the transfer of power, putting all the responsibility for what happened personally on Putin. In this case, they can begin negotiations.

According to the expert, the key task is to bring the end of the war closer, regardless of who will take this step on the Russian side. To do this, it is necessary to change the situation in such a way that it becomes increasingly unfavorable for Russia.

  • Russia is using Ukraine’s inability to hold elections because of martial law to manipulate the negotiation process and prolong the war.
