This was reported on Friday, October 9, by local Telegram channels, monitoring publics, and a number of Russian media outlets.

Residents of many southern districts of the Russian capital report sounds of explosions and air defense operations.

According to the Crimean Wind monitoring channel, explosions can be heard in Kapotnya, Kuzminki, Maryino, Tsaritsino, and other districts.

"Due to the attack, Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, and Sheremetyevo airports have temporarily suspended incoming and outgoing flights," the channel's post says.

According to Exilenova+, more than 200 flights are already delayed at Moscow airports, and another 100 have been canceled due to the balloon attack.

"Air defense is actively operating in the Moscow region on the approaches to Moscow itself," the channel's report says.

Recall that on the night of October 6, Moscow and the region were subjected to a massive drone attack. The largest oil depot in the Moscow region, the Volodarskaya Linear Production and Dispatch Station (LPDS), likely came under attack.

On October 7, in the Russian city of Volgograd, an oil refinery of the Lukoil group suspended operations following a drone attack by the Defense Forces that took place on October 2.

In addition, fighters of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck the Center for Operation of Space Ground Infrastructure Facilities and a research plant in Redkino. At these enterprises, Russians produce rocket fuel and refueling equipment.
