США is looking for a way not to deport Ukrainians after their protection is completed
The administration of the President США Дональда Трампа to 19 October has to decide whether to continue temporary protection (status TPS) for more than 100 thousands of Ukrainians who fled the war. Currently, several options for resolving the situation are being considered.
This is reported by Politico, citing its sources in Washington.
According to journalists, some American lawmakers are afraid that the White House will not continue protection, and are discussing the option for which Ukrainians will not be deported even after the expiration of the status.
This is the so-called «сальвадорський сценарій»: the administration can allow TPS to formally terminate without announcing its cancellation. In this case, the rules provide for an automatic extension of protection for another six months.
At the same time, the legal status of people will remain uncertain, in particular regarding the opportunity to work and study.

Publicly, legislators and organizations supporting Ukrainians are in favor of a full extension of TPS. Thus, the Democratic senator Джин Шахін said that she calls on the administration to maintain protection, although «з огляду на нинішню політику важко уявити, як це станеться».
The Congress also supports the bill on extending the protection of Ukrainians to 2029. The authors argue this, in particular, with economic consequences, since Ukrainians work in the transport, medical and construction sectors of США.
Cancellation of their protected status, as specified in the bill, «загрожує дестабілізацією цих галузей і зростанням витрат для американських споживачів, оскільки змусить тисячі досвідчених працівників залишити свої робочі місця».
Earlier it was reported that the Trump administration intends to expand the network of detention centers to accelerate the process of deportation from the country.
It is also known that США is preparing the largest in the history of visa cancellation - under the threat of 200 thousand foreigners.
