Survey: Spaniards believe that the crisis around Ceuta could provoke an armed conflict with Morocco
The Spanish believe that the crisis around Ceuta can provoke an armed conflict with Morocco.

These are the results of a September survey conducted by the independent research company PF Global on behalf of the publication Politico.
58% of respondents believed that tensions around Ceuta and Melilla - territories Morocco considers occupied - would likely trigger an armed conflict between Spain and Morocco over the next decade.

The poll comes weeks before Prime Minister Іспанії Педро Санчес announced early elections.
The leader of the conservative People's Party Альберто Нуньєс Фейхоо (which is currently ahead of Sanchez's polls) said that this crisis was “спровокована та скоординована Марокко”, and the government tried to hide this fact. The police report also said that Moroccan agents contributed to the organization of this mass movement.

At the same time, the “Сумар” party, a junior partner in the Sanchez government, doubts Rabat’s involvement in the events in Ceuta.
Sanchez calls the breach an attack on Spain's territorial integrity, but rejects claims that official Morocco is behind it, instead blaming smugglers.
However, in a POLITICO poll, three-quarters of Spaniards said Morocco posed a real threat to their country's territorial integrity.
