According to Politico, citing the words of senior analyst Eurasia Group Грегорі Bru, the promised volumes of diesel fuel are less than 2% of American production. Therefore, experts doubt that additional supplies from Russia will be able to significantly reduce fuel prices in США.
In addition, according to the analyst, it is not clear whether Russia will be able to fulfill its promise, given that Ukraine will not stop the attack on the Russian НПЗ.
Also, the easing of sanctions may be contrary to US law.
Politico reminds of the ban on the import of Russian energy resources by the США Cogress, which, according to the law, the president can cancel only if the Russian Federation withdraws its troops from Ukraine and does not threaten the countries of НАТО.
Even then, the cancellation will take effect no earlier than 90 days, and Congress will be able to block the decision. Therefore, the permission of the Ministry of Finance США for operations with Russian diesel does not necessarily cancel the ban on its import.
