Sikorsky warned of the risk of death due to hybrid attacks of Russia in Europe
Updated:
Foreign Minister Польщі Радослав Сікорський said that НАТО should be prepared for possible human casualties as a result of increased Russian hybrid operations against European countries.
He said this in an interview with Financial Times, fragments of which published Onet.
Sikorsky said that as the number of incidents increases, so does the risk of people being killed.
"Коли ми визнаємо, що росіяни зайшли занадто далеко? Адже це питання оцінки. Немає заздалегідь встановленого визначення", the Polish minister noted.
"Якщо почнуть гинути люди, нам доведеться провести чергову дуже серйозну розмову в НАТО", he warned.
Sikorsky did not specify what exactly the Alliance's response to the Russian hybrid attack should be if it leads to human casualties. At the same time, he recalled that Poland and Estonia had already initiated consultations with allies in accordance with article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty after violations of their airspace by Russian drones and military aircraft.
This Article shall provide for consultations if one of the Member States considers that its territorial integrity, political independence or security are at risk.
He also called on European countries to reduce the Russian diplomatic presence.
"У мене вже не залишилося консульств, але в інших вони все ще є", he remarked.
In addition, Sikorsky advocated limiting the number of tourist visas that European countries issue to Russian citizens.
