Ukraine is not the number one priority for США in the supply of interceptor missiles PAC-2 and PAC-3 for Patriot air defense systems. For a long time, Americans have been directing a significant part of these missiles to Близький Схід, and now their large deficit is observed.
This was stated by the President of Володимир Зеленський during a press conference on the sidelines of the Європейського Союзу summit in Brussels.
According to him, Ukraine receives missiles for Patriot systems from США within the framework of the PURL program, which is financed by European partners. At the same time, this is not free aid, but purchases, the funds for which are provided by Europe.
«Важливо, щоб ми працювали разом з Європою і разом із партнерами зі Сполучених Штатів Америки. Ми отримуємо PAC-2, PAC-3 від Сполучених Штатів Америки через програму PURL. За це гроші дає Європа, тобто це не безкоштовно і не подарунки. Зараз є великий дефіцит. Більшість PAC-2, PAC-3 вже довгий час віддається на Близький Схід. Тобто це не є якимось секретом, ми не є пріоритетом номер один щодо виділення PAC-2, PAC-3», said Зеленський.
At the same time, the President stressed that Ukraine is grateful for the missiles that can be obtained within the framework of the PURL program. He noted the role of НАТО, European countries and the White House administration in providing supplies.
Зеленський also explained that Ukraine is looking for interceptor missiles not only in США, but also in other countries of the world. According to him, the Ukrainian side is trying to negotiate the supply of even small batches - two, five or ten missiles, depending on the availability and opportunities to negotiate.
He added that these missiles are necessary to protect the population and critical infrastructure, primarily energy facilities.
