Two people were killed in Florida and two more in Alabama.

The storm hit land on Friday night as a Category 2 hurricane near Destin, Florida. It is the first hurricane in the Atlantic in the 2026 season.

The weather has brought rains and powerful winds, which creates the risk of floods and tornadoes. On its way, the hurricane tore roofs from buildings and felled trees.
