At the request of Estonia, Європейський Союз removed the Russian Solikamsk magnesium plant and its CEO Руслана Димухамедова from the new sanctions package.

with reference to diplomats in Brussels and the representation of Estonia.
The Estonian side explained its request by the fact that the plant supplies strategically important raw materials for NPM Silmet. In the future, the products are used by European manufacturers of electric vehicles and wind turbines, as well as enterprises of the electronic, automotive and aviation industries.
According to the representative of the Estonian representation at ЄС Керстін Лепік, NPM Silmet is already looking for alternative sources of Russian raw materials. Estonia also plans to return to the issue of sanctions against the plant and its head next year.
Journalists note that the Solikamsk magnesium plant has been under the control of the Russian state corporation «Росатом» for several years.
We will remind, the ambassadors of the countries Європейського Союзу on Tuesday, 7 October, agreed to include in the sanctions list 743 individuals and 826 companies associated with the Russian military-industrial complex. This is the largest sanctions list ЄС since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine.
It was also reported that ЄС for a year extended sanctions against persons and organizations involved in hybrid attacks of the Russian Federation.
