President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed former Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka as Representative to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community.
The corresponding decree was published on the website of the Head of State.
Kachka has already reacted to the appointment. He said that upon arrival in Brussels, he will focus on financial support for Ukraine in 2026-2027 and macro-financial assistance for subsequent periods. A separate priority is the timely receipt of European funds, particularly those designated for defense.
Kachka also plans to accelerate the integration of the Ukrainian and European markets in the fields of the defense industry, metallurgy, agriculture, and the electric power industry, as well as to develop joint logistics links and supply chains.
«And, of course, the EU enlargement policy rests on all these areas, and they converge in accession negotiations. The pace here is set by the President: decisions on opening clusters require the consent of all 27 member states, and it is his dialogue with EU leaders that often becomes decisive. And we, together with the Government and the Verkhovna Rada, must open the remaining clusters»,
Recall that it recently became known that Hungary agreed to the opening of Ukraine's negotiations with the European Union on two clusters, namely Internal Market and Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also expects the opening of two more negotiation clusters by the end of the year.
Earlier, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos stated that Ukraine will not have any privileges or concessions for joining the European Union, and the country's membership by January 1, 2027, as demanded by President Zelenskyy, is impossible.
